Be a Master Networker: 5 Rules

Some people are remarkably gifted networkers. They love making connections with and for othersThey make great eye contact, listen intently and make you feel like you’re the very center of their attention (think Bill Clinton). You enjoy meeting them and they leave a lasting positive impression after they’re gone.
Other people are, frankly, terrible. They’re the ones at an event who glad-hand, elevator pitch, and half-listen as their eyes feverishly scan the room behind you for other, better prospects. They expertly waste their time and yours in the process. Instead of walking away impressed by their social acumen, you leave with an indelible imprint of their boorish behavior and a bad taste in your mouth.
There’s not a professional alive today who wouldn’t rather be a great networker--because it’s really just about being an excellent communicator and all-around good person and, truly, who wouldn’t want that?
Here’s what’s worked for me. You can call it the SOCIAL (Search, Offer, Care, Indicate, Ask, Listen) Rule.
Search for the right one, not everyone.
Networking is not shameless self-promotion to everyone you meet. It is not the professional version of shoving a flier under all the windshields in a parking lot. It’s about finding and meeting the precisely right person for your needs at the time. It involves doing a bit of legwork to identify just who that person might be. It means thinking about what you have to offer that person--not just what they can do for you.
Offer to help.
Never underestimate your own power. It’s easy to think--especially when we’re less experienced or in the presence of those much more established than we are--that we have nothing to offer. Be confident that’s almost never the case. Be humble enough to offer what you can. Sometimes it’s a perspective that you’re uniquely qualified to give. Perhaps it’s a connection you’d be glad to make. It could be as simple as forwarding an article that would make a highly relevant and useful read for the other person.
Care what others think.
No, you don’t need to change who you are--the core of yourself--to be an excellent networker. But you should care how you’re perceived. Watch for conversational cues to know when to ask a question, inject a comment or smile, say thanks, and graciously take your leave. Ask trusted friends to tell you about any verbal tics or habits that might make you seem less than professionally graceful.
Indicate your appreciation.
No one likes a fawning, obsequious toady, not even Michael Scott (“I want them sucking up to me because they genuinely love me.”). But everyone loves a person who is sincerely grateful for their time, advice, constructive criticism, etc. And it’s always a bonus when you get it in written form--some perfectly pithy email or charming handwritten note that, in just a few well-written lines, reminds the recipient exactly why they were so justified in helping you.
Listen with genuine interest.
No matter who you meet--whether it’s someone who says hello to you at an event or a person you’ve researched extensively--listen with attentive care to what they say. There is no faster or surer way to make a perfect first impression than to listen and ask smart questions. Conversely, there’s no more effective way to tank than to just wait to for your chance to talk. Look at yourself as a journalist; the best ones know that everyone has a great story to tell.
What have been your most memorable networking interactions?

LinkedIn Customers Claim Company Hacked Email Address Books

Professional network LinkedIn Corp. was sued by customers alleging it appropriated their identities for marketing the site to nonmembers without their consent by hacking into their external email accounts and downloading contacts’ addresses.
The customers, who aim to lead a group suit against the company, asked a federal judge in California to bar LinkedIn from repeating the alleged violations and to force it to return any revenue made by using their identities, according to a court filing made Tuesday.
“LinkedIn’s own Web site contains hundreds of complaints regarding this practice,” they said in the complaint, which also seeks unspecified damages.
Julie Inouye, a spokeswoman for Mountain View, Calif.-based LinkedIn, didn’t immediately return a voice-mail message seeking comment on the suit outside of regular business hours.
The case is Perkins v. LinkedIn Corp., 13-cv-04303, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (San Jose).

How to use Google+ for much more than just social networking.

Too many people come to Google+ expecting to replicate Facebook. But Google+ is sooooo much more than just a social network.

One powerful thing you can do with Google+ is use some features you may not even know about to capture and catalog your real life, giving you literally photographic memory about the most important things you experience.

No need to share all these experiences if you don't want to. This is just for you:

Special Day for my life - Certificate Handover and be a Boad Executive

It is very very special day in my life. I go to join the annual meeting and party of PN Cambodia Alumni Association which is celebrated on April 07, 2013 at PNC (Passerelles numériques Cambodia). I am very happy that it is good time to join many things in the event such as PNC students show, certificate handover, new board election, playing khmer traditional game, song competition, drinking and dinning, dancing, and lucky draw. There are two things I want to tell you that I never ever forget in my life.

First, I would like talking about Certificate Handover. The ministry of education youth and sports having approved the minutes dated 25 October 2010 of the Academic committee of the Centre for Information Systems Training certifies that I have satisfied the requirements of the Centre for Information Systems Training for the award of Associate of Information Technology in Web Programming. This associate degree is presented to the bearer with all rights and privileges thereto pertaining. It is just the associate degree. But it was born by my real ability to get it as a poor student from rural area and to become good human resource to help myself, my family, and my country. It can't be changed by something else in my life. Thank you PNC that you help me to get it.

Second, the winner of new board executive for PN Cambodia Alumni Association. I applied to be one of a candidate as board executive. On the event, there is a program is new board election in 2013. I was invited to present what I can help the PNC alumni growth and be stronger. I presented to show my commitment with my core value within the vision and mission of PNC Alumni Association. My core value must be transparency, accountability, and development in our association and community. We develop ourselves then develop our society.  Furthermore, I try to develop the motivated connection between current PNC's students and PNC's former students. Finally, all of alumni members voted me. So I win the position Board Executive for PN Cambodia Alumni Association in 2013. Congrats!

At least but not last, I am very please for the award of Associate of Information Technology in Web Programming and be a board executive of PN Cambodia Alumni Association. It is very special memory in my life in the year 2013.

Three Tips using Skype or other communication tools effective

I want to share you some tips on Skype communication tool chatting, ignore this email if you not interested. And sorry for have no time to write it short.

I have share one time with my classmate DOP, and I have noticed that some of us is doing this all the time.

this is not a must that you have to do, it is a tips which is consider as Objective (Objective=something people see the same in general not the only one opinion ).

1/ Should not say only “Hi” and waiting them to reply back hi
 -  this means if you have something to talk about or asking, type the question in that greeting message. And I am 1000% sure that an expat (foreigners) doesn’t like this at all, and in my company we got one warning from out boss already. look like not professional at all, like a kids try to play around with Skype.

2/ Try to type a complete meaning before press”Enter”
- Imagine that you talk with a group of people or even only 1 person. And you all type with a little piece of sentence and enter, for example :

[Pherum]: hello friend
[Martin levis]: hello I also have one question
how can I install Linux on windows
                         without using VMware?
[Pherum]: I want to ask you one question.
[Jonh harves]: but this is not the best problem at all.
[Pherum]: how can I make this thing work
[Lovely girl]: how can we solve this Jonh?
[Pherum]: if I never know how to configure it
[Pherum]:and I really not sure what this mean

See this if you talk in group of at least 10 people like me. Someone might interrupt the talk. And those entire questions of PHERUM becoming meaningless, because they don’t understand what a little piece of separate sentences are. It take much time to investigate what pherum mean.

3/ If you see someone typing let them finish
- let them finish their writing, maybe they want to give more info that you willing to ask. Amazing if you talk in group then if you only type what you want to type without waiting to see your partner reason, then you both or group not understand each other. Otherwise it becoming like number 2.
